Destination Wedding in Tuscany: Wedding at Villa Grabau, Lucca
Zola and Adam, a couple from Washington, chose to celebrate their wedding in Italy, inspired by their deep love for Tuscany. Their chosen venue was the stunning Villa Grabau, located in Lucca, one of the most charming historic villas in the region.
The villa dates back to 1412 and was later transformed into a neoclassical residence around the 1600s, preserving its timeless elegance to this day. The perfect setting for a refined destination wedding in Tuscany.
Villa Grabau: The Perfect Wedding Venue in Tuscany
One of the greatest advantages of planning a destination wedding in Tuscany is the opportunity to host friends and family in the same location. Villa Grabau offers several elegant rooms, ideal for accommodating guests and creating a relaxed, immersive experience.
In front of the villa lies the beautiful Orangerie of Villa Grabau, one of the most appreciated features of the property. As a wedding photographer who has worked at Villa Grabau բազմաթիվ times, I know every corner of this venue intimately.
The Orangerie, once the estate’s farmhouse, has been transformed into a luxurious retreat with all modern comforts. Every detail is carefully curated, and the garden with its swimming pool is a true highlight for anyone dreaming of a destination wedding in Italy, where you can fully enjoy the atmosphere and unwind with a glass of fine wine.
Getting Ready and Ceremony: Elegance Even in the Rain
Both the bride and groom got ready inside the Orangerie, surrounded by their closest friends and family, in bright and elegant rooms.
Unfortunately, the weather didn’t work in our favor. Just before the ceremony, it started to rain, requiring the wedding planners to set up the always-essential Plan B inside the villa. Thanks to their expertise, the indoor ceremony felt just as refined and intimate.
The first look, originally planned in the gardens, was also moved indoors. Inside one of the villa’s stunning rooms, Zola and Adam saw each other for the first time, glowing with happiness. Their energy lit up the space, making the moment truly unforgettable.
The ceremony itself was beautifully styled by the wedding planners and florists. While rain poured outside, inside the room was filled with emotion, love, and meaningful vows, accompanied by the couple’s heartfelt glances.
Couple Photoshoot in the Gardens of Villa Grabau
After the ceremony, it was time for the couple’s photoshoot. With cloudy skies, we took advantage of the available light before sunset.
Thanks to my experience as a Villa Grabau wedding photographer, I know exactly how light moves across the property. I guided the couple to the brightest and most scenic spots in the garden.
Despite the changing weather, Zola and Adam were incredibly connected, joyful, and fully present. They embraced every moment without letting the rain affect their mood. As I always tell my couples:
“The light in a photograph comes from the people.”
The result was a beautiful, authentic, and emotional photoshoot.
Reception and Party in the Limonaia
Dinner took place inside the stunning Limonaia of Villa Grabau, a space I truly love for its perfect blend of elegance and rustic charm.
The tables were beautifully set, creating a warm candlelit atmosphere where guests enjoyed exquisite food and hearforgettable experience.
