Jenni e Aleksi – Villa del Balbianello
Jenni and Aleksi came from Finland to celebrate their symbolic ceremony in Italy, specifically on the shores of the beautiful and evocative Lake Como. Villa del Balbianello hosted them for their romantic elopement.
I left Florence early in the morning; usually, when I have such an important service, I try to leave the day before to ensure there are no delays due to traffic or unexpected events. The car journey was pleasant and without any hitches. I arrived at Lake Como around 12:30 PM, and the photo shoot with the couple was scheduled to start two hours later.
I introduced myself to the wedding planner and officiant, who was also Finnish but has lived in Milan for several years. We both went to Villa del Balbianello and waited for the couple to arrive. The day was perfect considering it was October 20th, with mild weather and a mix of sun and clouds, ideal for proper exposure. The couple arrived punctually at 2:30 PM, and we immediately started getting to know each other and syncing for our photo shoot. Villa del Balbianello is beautiful, elegant, and meticulously maintained.
We tried to explore every evocative corner of that wonderful place overlooking the lake. After about an hour, we went to the villa’s terrace to celebrate their symbolic ceremony, with a Finnish ritual. After the ceremony, we continued to walk and take intimate photos in the beautiful garden before heading to the boat, ready to start the photo shoot on the waters of Lake Como.
The elegant and characteristic boat was perfect for the photo shoot. Talking with the driver, I discovered that the boat had been brought from Venice because it was perfect for ceremonies on the lake.
During our trip, starting from Villa del Balbianello, we took postcard-perfect photos, passing by Villa Balbiano and the only island on Lake Como, Comacina Island. The day ended with our arrival by boat at the imposing Hotel Tremezzo, where we used the hall and garden for the final photos and a warm farewell to Jenni and Aleksi, two fantastic newlyweds.
